Diesel Mechanic Technician Sr. at US Foods, Inc. summary:

Senior Diesel Mechanic Technician responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, and reefers. Performs preventative maintenance, handles road service calls, maintains safety compliance, and manages inventory and documentation. Works nights in a fast-paced environment with opportunities for overtime and career advancement.

Our Diesel Mechanics start at $33.00 – $45.00/hour depending on experience!

Schedule:

Sunday - Thursday Nights

4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.).

  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  • Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
  • Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and Certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Reefer experience.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language such as to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Computer and software experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed.

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In New York, the expected compensation for this role is $33.00 – $45.00/hour This role is also eligible for overtime compensation.
